Lee's response

Hi Karen,

Understanding what is the exact cause and location of the pain is a priority, in which case you should seek medical attention to determine this. But, there are a number of things you can do to help manage your sore knees.

1) Run on soft surfaces such as grass/ gravel/ dirt. Sometimes the impact/ jarring from running on hard surfaces such as concrete/ bitumen can inflame the knees.

2) Ice them after every run. The ice will help decrease inflammation.

3) Use a heat pack/ ointment on your knees before you run. This will help with blood flow.

4) Make sure your running shoes are adequate and have not gone past their used-by-date.

5) If pain persists, see a specialist such as a physiotherapist.

Wishing you all the best,

Lee
