Can gels be substitiuted for lollies?

I tried some energy gels yesterday and I have to say the experience was less than pleasant
I understand the need for them during a long run or race but would lollies high in sugar (ie snakes) do the same thing for you ?

Hi Andrew,

How long have you trialed energy gels? We ask our clients to trail them as much as they can in their training and also trial different brands or flavors to see which is the most tolerable for you and your stomach.
There are other things such as "chews" or even taking jelly beans/ glucodin tablets to help assist you. All these are a trial and error process.
Sorry to hear that you had a terrible experience with them and hope you find something that you can be more comfortable with before your next race.
